Tools to help

Marsha P. Johnson started the Street Transvestite Action Revolutionaries (STAR) with Sylvia Rivera in 1970. STAR helped homeless transgender youth and protested police harassment.

STAR house was created to provide a home for transgender youth.

By 1979, Marsha had barely escaped from multiple physical attacks by johns, several breakdowns due to mental health,  and many arrests,

She was found dead in the Hudson River in July of 1992.  Her death was ruled a suicide and not investigated further due to her history of mental health issues.

In 2012,  her case was reopened for further investigation.

This group is named after Marsha P. Johnson  in honor of all the struggles, the pain and the ultimate sacrifices she made to improve life for transgender people.
